A strong commitment to
agriculture and quality is the foundation of Hopewell Valley Vineyards. "Great
wines are born in the vineyard but are raised in the winery," says owner Sergio
Neri. "Quality grapes along with quality wine making techniques are the key to
great wines. That's why we are deeply committed to growing our own fruit."
Currently, the vineyard sits on a twenty-two acre farm located just off
Route 31 in Hopewell Township, Mercer County. In the spring of 2004, it will
expand to seventy-five acres of which forty-five can be dedicated to
viticulture. Well known traditional vinifera varieties like
Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot Nero together with New Jersey favorites
like Chambourcin, Vidal, and Traminette are among the initial vines planted.
Barbera, a native grape of Piedmont, Italy is the latest variety to be planted
this year and hopefully will become one of the principal wines produced by
Hopewell Valley Vineyards. |
